Do not take this medication if you are pregnant or think you may become pregnant. Animal studies have shown a risk of birth defects, and the safety of oral or topical ivermectin during pregnancy has not been established. If you are currently breastfeeding, you must talk to your physician before starting this medication because ivermectin passes into breast milk in small amounts. Before you start using this medication, make sure to tell your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
