Always use this medication exactly as your doctor has prescribed. If you are taking the oral tablets or capsules, take your dose with a full glass of water on an empty stomach, unless your doctor specifically tells you otherwise. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating high-fat meals, as food can cause your body to absorb too much of the drug and increase your risk of side effects.
If you are using the topical cream, apply it in a thin layer to the skin in the affected area only and do not swallow it. Be careful to avoid sensitive areas near your eyes, lips, mouth, nose, or vaginal area, and do not apply the cream to open wounds or broken skin.
In case of a suspected overdose, or accidental swallowing of the cream, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) or get medical care immediately.
